Gemma's parents don't really give her a lot of affection. She wasn't really close with her parents. This causes her to have doubts about whether or not they're looking for her when she's taken. Also, because her paretns didn't give her a lot of attention, she used to go out a do a lot of drinking with some bad influences as friends. Ty's parents were not around as much in his life, so he seems to lack morals. He also feels lonely, like no one can spend time with him, so he takes Gemma without considering her feelings.
tys mom abandoned him twice and his dad was a drunk who beat him so i feel he his parents mistreating him lead to him stealing gem thus "saving" her from her parents.and the way gemma parents influence her is that she does not do what her parents say because she feels their just trying to make her in to a mini version of them selves but she does not want that which causes her to meet tie who eventually steals her.
(I'am not sure if these are spoilers?? Read at your own risk. You have been warned.)
Gemma's parents influence whether she should return home or not because they weren't the best parents. They didn't really influence her life theta much and left her on her. To her mom work was more important then spending time with Gemma. Ty likewise didn't get much if any attention from his dad and he never truly met his mother. I feel that his parents influenced the reasoning behind him taking Gemma because he was lonely.
Gemma parents influences her to be stronger because she really wants to see them and Ty parents influences him because they abandoned him and he was left by himself.
Tys parents influence him by making him some kind of lonesome person who is looking for someone to be with him because they left him. While Gemmas parents influence her to be a safe girl but still give her responsibility.
Ty's parents abandoned him for other things and left him to learn and form his opinions about life by himself. This has caused him to isolate himself from the rest of the world and not have a positive view on others. Gemma's parents don't seem very involved in her life either. She says they are cold and distant. This causes her to be distant and distrusting.
Ty had a father who drinked and farmed, thus influencing Ty about Australia's wilderness and nature. His father, before he left, also showed Ty about the "oldfella" lifestyle, especially drinking. Ty's mother was absent throughout his life, but her invitation to England made Ty dislike city life.
Gemma's parents influence her to be a "well-rounded" and sophisticated girl, to be following in their footsteps in her mother's art collecting and her father's business.
I think that Ty's father influenced him negatively because of his absence due to his drinking. He didn't really raise him as a son, which could have led to his current ways. To me Gemma's parents tried to positively influence her, but it drove her to bad decisions.
